Happiness Blog

Aristotle has a very interesting theory on happiness. He believes that happiness is the purpose for which we live, he also concludes that happiness is not a moment-to-moment experiencing of pleasurable things, but a way of characterizing how one’s life is being conducted. I fully believe in Aristotle’s theory’s. During our day to day life, most of us try and do things that make us happy. That is why we eat, sleep, have relationships, etc. All of these things bring us happiness, which is why we work each week, go to school and wake up in the morning. Doing these things allow for humans to feel a sense of purpose. If we didn’t have happiness then we would have no purpose in life. I think that’s why some people chose to commit suicide; they lost hope in having or finding happiness.
I see these principles that Aristotle taught in my day to day beliefs. When I roll out of bed each day I want to go out with a purpose. If I don’t have a goal in life or see a purpose in my life, I have no reason to wake up each day. Each day I have to look for positive things and I believe you have to choose to be happy when Aristotle says, “happiness is the purpose for which we live”. I agree with that one hundred percent and that’s why I have goals in my life, that’s why I work hard in school, and work. Those things make me feel happy because I am accomplishing things, and I’m feeling like I have a purpose. Knowing that I have a purpose makes me happy.

Happiness is also seen as an overview. When someone is happy, usually it involves not just one day to determine if they are happy it is an overview of a distance of time. Aristotle believes that “happiness is the purpose for which we live, he also concludes that happiness is not a moment-to-moment experiencing of pleasurable things but a way of characterizing how one’s life is being conducted”. I can compare this to my life, I am twenty four years old and I feel like I can see my purpose in life and I can see where I’m going in my life. I have started in my career and things are going well. I believe if I didn’t know my purpose and didn’t know what I was doing with my life, I would be unhappy.

New Friends

Thursday, August 29th 2013 I got the invite to go help Film up in Cedar City, Utah. Can I just say wow what a great opportunity. I meet some amazing people that have already taught me some amazing life lessons, and how to become a better filmer. One of the biggest things I learned was how important it is to follow your gut. When you feel like you need to do/say something just say/do it. Talk to everyone you never know what they have to offer you. You never know, unless you find out treat.

While I was in Cedar City, Utah Filming .
We filmed an event for Southern Utah University and this was a picture I took. This hedgehog was part of a club there at SUU.

SUU hired a Band Called "Radical Something", to come and play for their school. We also had the opportunity to make a music video for radical something. It's called "feels like forever". Check it out!

Into the Woods

In the story, “Into the wood”, I feel like the woods represent the world as whole and life experiences. Every time the characters go out into the world they are looking for what they want. Similar to our world, every day that we step out of our house we should be looking for something that we want or something that will benefit us. The world offers us everything that we want or ever need we just have to find it. Whether it is looking to meet someone new that can help us become a better person, or if it is an opportunity to help someone in need. If we are not looking for these things or opportunities we are missing out. In the story “into the woods”, if the characters never would have gone out into the woods, they would have never found what they were looking for.
I am always looking for opportunities to network and find those things that I need and want. Recently I meet some new friends because I gained the courage to open my mouth. I saw an opportunity and I went running after it. This past summer I went hiking with my family to Karnaville Falls. We had just finished the hike and as we got to the parking lot I looked over and saw some kids with camera gear. My first thought was I have to talk to them I need to know who they are and what they are doing. I talked to them for about 2 minutes and then they had to get up into the canyon to shoot their film. In that moment I thought dang, I wish I could have talked to them longer and helped them film.
Two weeks ago I just finished up filming an event for DSUSA. My friend Greg Layton invited me to go to swig afterwards. I get there and I look over and see this kid, he looked so familiar. So I opened my mouth again. Come to find out I knew him because of the hike that I went on with my family. Our conversation went into more depth and we ended up exchanging our contact information. A week later he invited me to go up to Cedar City, Utah, and film a music video with him and his buddies.
I’m currently filming with them and my network expanded its amazing to see how small the world really is and the experiences and opportunities that exist with in the world if you open your mouth. If you never open your mouth you’ll be missing out on life experiences and opportunities, and those things that your heart desires.
Who doesn't want to be successful? I’m pretty sure everyone in this world wants to be able to put food on the table for their family, and to have a happy life just like in the movies. It all starts with you! Take care of yourself by helping others and caring for others.

If it be helping the old lady walk across the street, or rescuing a child from a burning house. You can make difference and others can make a difference for you. It’s a win win situation for everyone. Someone just needs to initiate the good deed. You never know how you will meet other people. You just always need to have your “A” game face on and others will see it. Opportunities and experiences will soon come your way, and you will be on the road to success.

Patience is worth it

Right now as we speak, when I say right now literally right now. We are being tested with patience.A month ago I took a leap of faith by quitting my job and started chasing my dream of filming. I took a pay cut so that I could get more filming experience. I took a position on DSU student government, so I could get more filming opportunities and marketing opportunities. Two weeks ago I meet a person from Cedar City, Utah that is opening a window of opportunity for me. I am forever grateful for this opportunity, to help in making my first music video. I am always looking for opportunities to film and take pictures I just love it. Last week I had the opportunity to film a dance for DSU. Here a some screen shots that I got from the video that I made.

I just love seeing the final product. It is just amazing to me and seeing how excited people get for the videos and how excited they are to see the pictures. I'm just waiting and praying for that day when my photos and videos are recognized by the whole world. I want my videos and pictures showing people good clean fun people having a great time. People need the hope and people need to see the happiness that is currently happening in our world today.
If you look for the bad things you will find them.
We need to keep our heads up find the good things. That's what I want to do for the world is show them all the good things.

My name is Taylor Timothy. I have a great story I was born in Brigham City Utah. After high School I decided to serve an LDS mission and I was chosen to go to Brazil for 2 years; Shortly after I started attending Utah State University. 6 months later I moved to St. George and started attending Dixie State. I have been attending Dixie state for a year and a half now. So here I am now sitting in the Holland building thinking about what I’ve got to say about being “drunk”.
The phrase “being drunk”, has a very interesting mean. Most people will hear the phrase “being drunk” and will assume that someone is intoxicated. I see “being drunk”, as showing passion having a love for something and completely indulging yourself into that love or passion.
Currently I am chasing after my passion, my passion for film. I currently am making short films because that’s what I prefer. When I first started a lot of people doubted my capability to succeed in film. The only thing that helped me continue through the trails was my drunkenness for film. Film has so many powers the power to bring happiness or sadness the power to influence or destroy. That’s why I have a strong passion for film; I love it! I am drunk in it and I am going to continue being drunk in it!
I feel that colleges have a wide variety of drunken students. You have the almost sober college student, this student is an example of a student that has no idea what is going on in life. Then you have the student that is drunk only about four times during the week, he kind of knows what he is doing with his life. There are students out there that are drunk on school; they are drunk in class, definitely twenty four hours a day seven days a week. This college student knows what they want to do with their life. They want to achieve their goals and the only thing that is holding them back is a degree. These students have to love school, and be drunk in school.
The why factor on why students aren’t getting drunk or being drunk is because, they haven’t found things that will get them drunk. I just found out seven months ago something that would get me drunk. Sometimes you find it by luck, or sometimes its right in front of your face and you don’t even know it!
I encourage every college student in the world to get drunk. At least get drunk on life or just enjoy it! Find that thing that you are passionate about it just makes life better. It brings more happiness into your life you find more self-worth. Search high and low to find what makes you drunk. The thing that makes you drunk is very valuable. It’s so valuable that it can determine your future, determine what will happen throughout the rest of your life!
Now don’t be discourage, don’t think, “I’m not going to find it”. That’s a bad attitude; you’ll find you just need determination to find it. If you don’t look you won’t find it! Try new things maybe its arriving to class on time, caring about your grades, caring about your friends passions. Support things that don’t interest you, these things will open doors to find your passion. I promise that you will; you will find it!
